Description
This is my original acrylic on canvas painting, “Oasis Sunfire.”
The canvas measures 4 feet by 4 feet, and I worked on this piece over the course of 6 months, from December 2025 through May 2026. I completed it on May 13th, 2026.
This is the first major piece I completed in my new studio space at 2 Navajo Ave. in Manitou Springs, Colorado. I consider this painting a masterpiece because I truly gave every square inch of the canvas my full attention to detail. Many sections were reworked multiple times until they felt right — I believe I painted the water three different times before I was finally happy with it.
There is extensive layering throughout the piece, with countless hours spent building detail, texture, and color. I have always wanted to paint an elephant, and with this one I wanted to create something completely over-the-top, colorful, and alive.
Every blade of grass was individually painted with a liner brush. The elephant itself contains thousands of lines, textures, and abstract color details throughout the skin and patterns. I also used fluorescent paints in certain areas, which makes the painting come alive under RGB lighting and black lights.
I even brought the painting down to the Armadillo Ranch in Manitou Springs to see how it reacted under their stage lighting system, and it looked incredible. If you purchase this piece, just know that it looks amazing under shifting colored lights and really transforms depending on the environment.
I’m newer to selling original artwork and have never worked through a gallery before. Most of my original paintings are still in my personal collection.
I’m asking $4,750 for the original painting. The piece is signed by me, Jared Thompson, and will come with a certificate of authenticity. The canvas is currently unframed. Payment by check, cash, online credit card payment accepted.
Price does not include any shipping. It would be amazing to sell this piece to someone local near or in Manitou Springs, but if someone out there wants it elsewhere there are many art shipping resources out there to make that happen safely.
As with all of my artwork sales, 5% of the sale price will be donated to local nonprofit organizations based in Manitou Springs. I’m also donating 10% of the sale price to the Armadillo Ranch for supporting my art since day 1!
