Oasis Sunfire

Prints available here of my original acrylic on canvas painting, “Oasis Sunfire.”

The original canvas measures 4 feet by 4 feet, and I worked on this piece over the course of 6 months, from December 2025 through May 2026. I completed it on May 13th, 2026.

This is the first major piece I completed in my new studio space at 2 Navajo Ave. in Manitou Springs, Colorado. I consider this painting a masterpiece because I truly gave every square inch of the canvas my full attention to detail. Many sections were reworked multiple times until they felt right — I believe I painted the water three different times before I was finally happy with it.

There is extensive layering throughout the piece, with countless hours spent building detail, texture, and color. I have always wanted to paint an elephant, and with this one I wanted to create something completely over-the-top, colorful, and alive.

Every blade of grass was individually painted with a liner brush. The elephant itself contains thousands of lines, textures, and abstract color details throughout the skin and patterns. I also used fluorescent paints in certain areas.
